Main Duties and ResponsibilitiesnInstruction and Student LearningnPlan and deliver developmentally appropriate music instruction for Lower School students.nTeach foundational musical skills, including rhythm, melody, pitch, dynamics, and musical form.nIntegrate singing, movement, instrument exploration, and creative expression into daily instruction.nDifferentiate instruction to meet students’ diverse developmental, musical, and learning needs.nFoster student confidence, collaboration, and joy in musical participation.nLower School Choir ManagementnDirect and rehearse Lower School choir ensembles as appropriate by grade level.nSelect age-appropriate and culturally diverse repertoire that reflects the school’s values and community.nTeach healthy vocal technique, ensemble skills, and performance etiquette.nPrepare students for school concerts, assemblies, and community events.nParent Presentations and Community EngagementnPlan and lead parent-facing performances, concerts, and musical presentations that showcase student learning.nCommunicate clearly with families regarding performance expectations, schedules, and student progress.nCollaborate with classroom teachers and school leadership to integrate performances into the school calendar.nPromote music education as a vital part of the Lower School experience.nAssessment and FeedbacknUse formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress in musical skills and participation.nProvide constructive, age-appropriate feedback that supports student growth and confidence.nMaintain accurate records of student learning and participation.nCollaboration and Professional PracticenCollaborate with Lower School faculty, specialists, and student support staff to support interdisciplinary learning.nParticipate actively in grade-level meetings, professional development, and school-wide initiatives.nContribute to school events, celebrations, and community-building activities.nDemonstrate professionalism in attendance, punctuality, communication, and conduct.nCertifications and EducationnRequirednBachelor’s degree in Music Education or a related field.nValid teaching certification (licenciatura) in related fields (recognized in Brazil).nDesirednMaster’s degree in Music Education or related discipline.nTraining in early childhood or elementary music education methodologies (e.g., Orff, Kodály, Dalcroze).nnExperiencenRequirednMinimum of five years of teaching experience.nDemonstrated experience teaching music to elementary-aged students.nDesirednExperience in international or multicultural school settings.nExperience directing children’s choirs and organizing school performances.nExperience working collaboratively with families and community audiences.nnKnowledge, Skills and AbilitiesnRequirednStrong understanding of child development and age-appropriate music pedagogy.nAbility to teach singing, rhythm, movement, and basic instrumental skills.nEffective classroom management in active, performance-based learning environments.nStrong communication and interpersonal skills with students, families, and colleagues.nDesirednFamiliarity with international curricula (e.g., IB PYP).nAbility to integrate technology into music instruction and performances.nKnowledge of vocal health and child-safe rehearsal practices.nnPersonal AttributesnRequirednCommitment to the school’s mission, vision, and values.nWarmth, enthusiasm, and patience in working with young children.nProfessionalism, reliability, and strong organizational skills.nCollaborative, reflective, and student-centered approach to teaching.nDesirednCreativity and energy in lesson and performance design.nPassion for building community through music and performance.nDedication to continuous professional growth and innovation.
