Primary Purpose of the PositionnTo plan and deliver effective Spanish language instruction that supports students’ linguistic, cultural, and academic development, while fostering their social and emotional growth. The teacher will collaborate with colleagues, engage with families, and contribute to the school community to promote a dynamic and inclusive learning environment. nMain Duties and ResponsibilitiesnCommunicate and liaise regularly with fellow Spanish and World Language team members regarding planning, assessment, parent communication, curriculum development, and classroom issues such as behavior and student engagement;nCollaborate with other school colleagues to support students’ social, emotional, and academic growth;nTake an active role in classroom management and positive behavioral support;nAttend and contribute constructively to department and staff meetings;nSupervise students during breaks or transitions, as assigned;nCoordinate and lead class activities, language-learning projects, or cultural experiences as needed;nMaintain accurate and up-to-date records of student attendance, lesson planning, assessment, reporting, and parent communication;nEstablish and maintain effective communication with families to keep them informed of student progress and classroom expectations;nParticipate in and support school-wide events, language fairs, international celebrations, and other community activities.nCertifications and EducationnRequired:nBachelor’s degree in Spanish, Education, or a related field.nValid teaching certification/licensenIB training and certification. nDesired:nMaster’s degree in Language or related discipline. nExperiencenRequired:nExperience teaching Spanish at the high school level;nProfessional experience teaching IB Language A: Language & Literature or Literature, with a strong understanding of DP standards, assessment criteria, and internal/external moderation processes.nDesired:nExperience teaching in international or multicultural contexts.nExperience supporting students with diverse learning profiles in rigorous academic settings.nKnowledge, Skills and AbilitiesnRequired:nExtensive familiarity with the literature, culture, and academic conventions of the Spanish-speaking world, grounded in lived experience;nAbility to differentiate instruction for all learners;nUnderstanding of inquiry;nUnderstanding of Competencies based learning;nExperience with moderation of assessments in a collaborative setting.nDesired: nStrong understanding of IB philosophy, assessment criteria, and standardsnFamiliarity with international curricula beyond IB (e.g., AP, A-Levels). nPersonal AttributesnRequired: nCommitment to Graded’s mission, vision, and core values.nProfessionalism in teaching practice and collaboration with colleagues. nReflective, flexible, and open to continuous professional growth. nDesired:nCreativity and innovation in instructional design. nEngagement with the wider school community through academic or extracurricular involvement.
